"Try" to Love Your Authentic Self

Do you feel the need to conform?  I was the typical "corporate employee", then I was the typical "soccer mom" but I'm breaking away from the restrictions of my labels.  If you feel the need to fit in, maybe take a look at why you think fitting in is necessary.

If you had to choose, wouldn't you rather be happy?  Sometimes the pathway to happiness is filled with steps to become more visible as our authentic selves.  Perhaps our authentic selves wish to conform less than we might expect.

If there was no judgment in the world, would you act differently?  We all share a need to belong, so it's probably not wise to break every rule.  How about breaking a few?  Guilt is self-imposed.  Accepting the judgment of others is a choice.  If people use guilt to manipulate us, we can try let it roll off our backs.  How we feel about ourselves is a choice.

I love the song "Try" by Colbie Caillat.

"Put your make up on ...

Get your sexy on ...

Get your shopping on ...

So they like you. Do they like you?

Wait a second,
Why should you care, what they think of you
When you're all alone, by yourself
Do you like you? Do you like you?

You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing ...

Take your make up off
Let your hair down
Take a breath
Look into the mirror, at yourself
Don't you like you?
Cause I like you"

Can you look in the mirror and fully and completely love yourself?  If you cannot, any time you spend practicing will help your self-esteem.  If it makes you uncomfortable, focus on one part of your body that you can love.  We all have made mistakes.  Forgiving ourselves is necessary to heal.

Have a great day!!
